Steps to apply online for the NCERT Recruitment 2024
Candidates should first visit the official website www.ncert.nic.in. Scroll down to find the "Vacancies" section and locate the "Advertisement No. 174/2024" for direct recruitment.
Click on "Apply Now" and create a new account by entering accurate personal details like name, email address, and contact information. Complete the registration by clicking on the "Register" button.
To access your account, use the username and password you created. Complete the online application form with accurate information.
Make sure to provide all required details. Submit the application after filling it out completely. Follow the instructions on the website to pay the application fee.
Once payment is made, your application will be successfully submitted. Print out a confirmation page or a copy of your submitted application for your records.
Application Fee
If you belong to the UR, OBC, or EWS categories, you must pay the application fee online. Other payment methods are not accepted. However, SC/ST candidates do not need to pay the fee. Once the fee is paid, it cannot be refunded, so make sure all details are correct before submitting payment. The application fee for UR/OBC/EWS candidates is Rs. 1000 while SC/ST/PwD/Women are exempt from paying any fee.
Educational Qualification
The qualifications needed for various academic and library roles are clearly outlined to ensure that individuals meet the necessary criteria for each specific job.
Associate Professor
- Candidates must have Ph.D. in the relevant discipline.
- Candidates have minimum of 8 years of teaching experience at the university/college level or research experience in a recognized institution.
- Candidates must have a good record of published work in reputed journals or significant contributions to research
Assistant Professor
- Candidates have Master’s degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a relevant subject from an accredited Indian or foreign university.
- Candidates must have cleared NET, SLET, or SET, or be exempt if holding a Ph.D. that meets specific criteria (regular mode, evaluated by two external examiners, open viva voce, two research papers, and two conference presentations).
- Ph.D. from a top 500-ranked foreign university (according to QS, THE, or ARWU) exempts candidates from NET/SLET/SET.
Professor
- Candidates have a Ph.D. with 10 high-quality research publications and a research score of 120 is required.
- Candidates must have at least ten years of teaching or equivalent research experience and evidence of guiding doctoral candidates.
- Alternatively, an outstanding professional with a Ph.D. and ten years of significant contributions in the field is also eligible.
Assistant Librarian
- Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Documentation Science, or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
- Maintain a consistently good academic record and possess knowledge of library computerization.
- Clear NET/SLET/SET or have a Ph.D. (with specific conditions: regular mode, evaluated by two external examiners, open viva, two research papers, and two conference presentations) to be exempt from NET/SLET/SET.
Selection Process
The process for selecting a professor at NCERT involves multiple stages. First, candidates take an online or written test to demonstrate their expertise in the subject, research skills, and teaching abilities. Those who pass this stage move on to the interview round, where their academic background, work experience, and suitability for the position are evaluated.
